University of Arizona Title IX Attorney
Representing Survivors of Campus Sexual Assault & Abuse
Recent reports have revealed claims of Title IX failures and cover ups against the University of Arizona.
These claims allege the school maintained a culture that permitted sexual misconduct in its football program, and that it failed to respond to specific instances of sexual misconduct perpetrated by student athletes.
For survivors of sexual assault and abuse, the failings of a higher institution of learning – one that students are led to trust – only adds to the difficulty they face when stepping forward.
About U of A’s Alleged Title IX Failures
Reports state that 16 student-athletes and employees were investigated by the University of Arizona for sexual assault or dating violence over a six year time-span, dating back to 2012.
A recent federal lawsuit alleges that in one instance, the U of A knew about football player Orlando Bradford's violent history, and failed to take reasonable steps to protect students. Bradford went on to allegedly sexually assault two female students.
Reports also indicate that Bradford's circumstances were not unique. Rather, the U of A has systemically failed to address sexual misconduct within its football program, raising concerns about its handling of campus sexual assault and misconduct claims within its entire athletics program, and among non-athlete students.
